Zion Sims ’22 Commits to Play Football at The U.S. Military Academy at West Point

Senior Zion Sims has committed to play football at Army West Point. The Friars’ linebacker shared, “I chose West Point because the brotherhood and team-first atmosphere that is similar to Servite.”

A three-year varsity letterman for Servite football, Sims is a 2x All-Trinity League selection earning 1st Team honors his senior year and 2nd Team recognition following his junior campaign. Throughout his career, he tallied 98 tackles, three tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one sack and one interception which he impressively hauled in during the CIF Finals game this year. He finished his senior season with 75 total tackles including a team-high 38 solo tackles.

Head Football Coach Troy Thomas shared, “Zion has been one of the smartest and most consistent players that I have ever coached. I am excited to watch Zion excel at West Point and beyond.”

Sims, who is also involved with NHS and runs track at Servite, plans to study mechanical engineering at West Point.

Sims is the sixth Friar to announce his college decision joining Keyan Burnett, Noah Fifita, Mason Graham, Jacob Manu and Tetairoa McMillan.

In closing Sims shared, “Thank you to Coach Thomas as well as Coach Sully for giving me this opportunity and allowing me to grow as a man. Thank you Mom and Dad for sacrificing so much so that I could go to Servite and to all my family for their support. Lastly, I would like to thank our loving and wonderful God who has blessed me in more ways than I know.”
