The Fight’n Friars Win the Cossarek Classic with Three Individual Champions

Coming off a dual meet victory earlier in the week, Servite Wrestling kept the momentum going bringing home the Cossarek Classic title in their first tournament of the season! The Fight’n Friars tallied 258.5 team points topping St. John Bosco (241.5) and Fountain Valley (185.5)! In total, 12 wrestlers placed, 10 from Team 1 and two from Team 2.

Seniors Josh Medina (138), Tristen Wilson (195) and Andrew Archuleta (220) won individual championships with Medina (pictured left) also being named Middle Weight MVP finishing the competition with four pins! Medina and Archuleta won by fall in the finals defeating St. John Bosco and Cypress respectively while Wilson won his championship match by decision, 4-1 over Dana Hills.

Four Friars finished as runner-ups including Marcus Medina (132), Roy Okada (145), Neil Carter (160) and Valor Buck (170). Other Team 1 wrestlers that placed included Moises Segura (152) coming in 4th and Anthony Sanchez (126) and Bryce Leos (HWT) taking 7th.

Rounding out the medalists for Servite, Timmy Matles (132) grabbed 7th while Mason Graham (HWT) placed 6th representing Team 2.

All three levels for Servite will be in action this Tuesday when the Fight’n Friars host Temecula Valley in a battle of No. 1 in Orange County vs. No. 1 in the Inland Empire! F/S and JV (Team 2) will wrestle at 4:30pm followed by Varsity (Team 1) at 6:00pm.
