The Asylum

The Asylum. Many know of it, but what many people may not know is that it is much more than just a group of students showing up to sporting games. The Asylum is run by the Campus Life Committee, one of many leadership programs on campus. The mission of this committee is to develop and promote the Servite Brotherhood. Campus Life is a leadership program focused on the overall experience of the student body on campus and within the community. Fully promoting and maintaining the aspect of brotherhood that is unique to a Servite education is our main goal. One of the many ways this is accomplished is through our reputable Asylum, often voted the #1 student section in Southern California. The Asylum is the successor to a similar student group in the 1990s and early 2000s known as “The Pit Crew.”

The reason the Servite Student section is named “The Asylum” is because it provides an atmosphere of “controlled insanity” where students are able to express themselves as the enthusiastic young men they are, while also maintaining the mission of Servite in developing men of Christ. Ultimately, The Asylum represents an even greater truth of the Servite experience, and that is the fact that no matter what you are involved in at Servite, you have a support system comprised of every single brother on campus. Whether it be support in The Asylum for a sporting team, support for an activity, or support in the classroom, the atmosphere of brotherhood, support, and love is inherent in a Servite education. That is why I believe The Asylum is the most visible representation of brotherhood Servite has, because at its core, the mission of The Asylum is to show loving support for all of our brothers. A characteristic that I am proud to say thrives at Servite.
