Servite Scholar-Athlete of the Week (4/15/19)
Liam Mulkerin
Senior
Baseball
GPA: 4.2
Favorite School Subject: My favorite subject is AP Environmental Science because I learn about subjects that apply to my everyday life. Having discussions and doing research on hot-button political and social issues interests me because it allows me to see the real-world implications as I learn.
How do you balance the academic and athletic rigors here at Servite? Even though baseball is very time consuming and Servite has very challenging academics, balancing the two has not been too difficult thanks to my teachers being so helpful. The majority of teachers are always around, helping students, before and after school and are helpful when it comes to missing class for games.
What is your go-to study tip for an upcoming exam? Reviewing smaller amounts of information over a longer amount of time is better than just cramming late at night. Both are better than not studying at all because I’ve tried that too.
What else are you involved in at Servite? Servite has lots to offer other than just school and sports; I’m a part of the National Honors Society, the California Scholarship Federation, the Spikeball club, and I am the Vice president of the Red Cross club.
What’s your biggest motivation that keeps you striving to be the best student-athlete you can be? My teammates, they push me every day to work as hard as I can in the weight room and the on the field because I know they’re doing the same and I’m not going to let them down when it comes to game time.
Current Courses: AP Calculus BC, Choir, AP Environmental science, World Religions, AP Literature, AP Economics
