Servite v. Bolsa Grande for Football Playoff Spot

A smaller Servite team refused to yield to a more powerful Bolsa Grande team that marched up and down the field, but the Friars held their own and refused to quit. Servite was not able to generate much offense, but benefited from a long punt return by Len Klikunas ’62 that put the Friars up 19-14 late in the game. With time running out, Bolsa Grande mounted one last drive deep inside Servite territory, but was stopped inside the 1-yard line as time expired in a major upset. Servite went on to win two playoff games, before tying Santa Ynez, 26-26, to become Co-CIF Champions.
