Wrestling defeated Villa Park earlier this week 60-18 tallying seven pins!
The Spartans took the first match at 106 but the Friars weren’t intimidated. Freshman Anthony Lucio (113) quickly answered for Servite winning by fall to tie it up then Ethan Grimminger (120) mimicked that performance with a pin to give the Fight’n Friars their first lead of the match 12-6.
Villa Park once again tied it up 12-12 after the 126lb bout but Eric Fernandez (132) and Marcus Medina (138) earned back-to-back pins to put Servite up 24-12. Forfeits to Noah Segura and Tyler Okada at 145 and 152 respectively quickly extended the Friars’ lead to 36-12 before Domenic Lomedico (160) and Noah Gasca (170) tallied pins of their own!
The Spartans won their final match at 182 by fall to cut Servite’s lead to 48-18 before Isaiah Gasca (195- decision), Ben Florentine (220- pin) and Mason Graham (HWT- decision) won three straight to end it with a bang for the Fight’n Friars.
Following their performance against Villa Park, Servite hosted top ranked Calvary Chapel coming up just short 38-36 to drop their first dual of the season. The Fight’n Friars now sit at 5-1 overall.
