Tristen Wilson ’20 Wins Competitive Zinkin Classic Title; Wrestling Brings Home Small School Championship

Servite Wrestling traveled to Clovis this weekend to participate in the competitive Zinkin Classic hosted by Buchanan High School. The Fight’n Friars won the Small School Championship while finishing 5th overall.

Six wrestlers placed for Servite led by senior Tristen Wilson (pictured left) who won the title at 195lbs defeating Clovis by decision, 4-3 in the finals. Wilson went 5-0 in the tournament with two falls, one major decision and two decisions to earn Upper Weight MVP honors. As a tournament winner, Wilson also walked away with custom Zinkin Champion wrestling shoes!

Fellow senior Josh Medina (138) finished as runner-up after a tough loss by decision in the finals while Neil Carter (160) took 4th, Valor Buck (170) and Andrew Archuleta (220) placed 6th with Roy Okada (145) rounding out the placers for Servite coming in 7th.

Servite will return to action next Saturday, December 28th when they host Fountain Valley at 6pm.
