His academic career at Servite was less than stellar with a graduating GPA of 2.63. He earned a “D” in Fr. Gaglia’s Biology class and a “C-“ in Ed Quinn’s Chemistry class. Tim Brundige ’73 never made the Honor Roll at Servite. To his surprise, he was accepted to the University of San Diego where he earned “A”s in Biology and Chemistry. He made the Honor Roll as a Freshman and credits Servite for preparing him for college.
His announcing career at Servite started in the same humble fashion when in 1991, he offered to fill in for announcer Vince Lombardo if needed. At first, he assisted Lombardo sharing announcing duties at football games. In 1993, he took over full-time. Later he took on basketball and baseball. He is now known as “The Voice of Servite.”
Tim’s greatest influence was his father, Bill, who did play-by-play for the Rams, Lakers, Angels and UCLA basketball. His favorite memories are announcing games for his four children, Tim ’95, Bill ’97, Katie (Rosary) ’01, Lauren ’04 and covering games involving future NFL greats Ryan ’03 and Matt ’08 Kalil, and Matt Slater ’03. Announcing games against Mater Dei at Angel’s Stadium have also been a thrill. His most emotional moment was the OLU game at Fullerton High School a few days after 9/11. Our nation’s flag was unfurled on the field prior to the start of the contest. “That flag and National Anthem ceremony really brought perspective,” he said.
Tim was inducted into the Servite Hall of Fame in 2014 for his outstanding dedication and service to his alma mater. Servite is blessed by his 27 years of announcing games for the Friars.
I don’t do social media, however how is having a fun memory of playing catch with my Aunt Jane decided to Google it and found you. Just a shout out from your cousin Mark Gould.
