If you played football at Servite between 1972 and 2005, you knew ‘The Four Ds’… Desire, Determination, Discipline, and Dedication. Coach Ken Visser is credited with bringing the 4Ds to Servite in 1972. He was Defensive Coordinator at the time and later became Head Football Coach.
Coaches told players that Desire, Determination, Discipline and Dedication are what we were going to live. The words caught on. The 4Ds became a mantra for Servite football. Coaches, players and parents liked what the words stood for and they became part of the culture at Servite. Integration of the 4Ds in drills and practices helped inspire student athletes to overcome opponents of more formidable size. Over time, the 4Ds allowed for discussion of faith and belief that challenges could be overcome – on the field of competition, in the classroom and in life.
