Orange County Peer At Servite High School

Connelly, Rosary, and Servite students learned about the judicial process by participating in Orange County Peer Court on Tuesday, September 12 on campus. Students had the opportunity to interact with a sitting judge, attorneys, probation officers and juvenile offenders by being designated as “jurors” to assess the cases presented. These student jurors had the opportunity to question the juvenile offender present about the offense at hand, after which they deliberated with the assistance of an attorney advisor and decided upon appropriate sanctions to recommend to the judge. The judge then issued the final decisions. Through this experience, students were able to observe and participate in the judicial process while learning about the juvenile justice system and the importance of making responsible decisions.
