Spirit Week

Spirit Week started to take a strong hold on the student body in 1966 and enjoyed a long run into the early 2000s. Entertaining activities, such as class competition in Tug-o-War with losing teams literally getting dragged through the mud brought spirited responses from students. The Greased Pig Catching contest was a hit. There were Karate demonstrations and even a Chug-a-Lug marathon race that had a short, but memorable place in Spirit Week history. The Tricycle Grand Prix was added and had a long run in spirit memories. Later activities included a crazy tie day, sack race and the Velcro wall. All in good fun intended to help take an edge off a rigorous academic regimen.
