Six Student-Athletes Participate in National Signing Day

Servite Athletics recognized eight student-athletes today during a National Signing Day ceremony held in the gym. Delon Hurt, Julius Irvin, Luke LaCilento, Clayton Martin, TJ McMahon and Parker Thomas represented Football while Corbin Mercado and Jose Sosa represented Soccer.

Delon Hurt was a 3-year Varsity starter for the Friars being named 1st Team All-Trinity League his junior and senior seasons. He was also a member of the Curia and a team captain for Servite Football. Hurt will join fellow Friars, Keyon Riley ’16 and Jayce Smalley ’17 at UCLA.

Julius Irvin was a 3-year Varsity starter for the Friars earning 1st Team All-Trinity League and All-Orange County honors his senior season. He was also a member of the Curia and a team captain for the Friars. He will join fellow Friars AJ Carty ’15 and Keith Taylor ’17 at Washington.

Luke LaCilento was a 3-year Varsity letterman for the Friars earning All-League honors last season. He will join Michael Bandy ’16 and his brother, Michael LaCilento ’17 at USD.

Clayton Martin was a 2-year Varsity letterman for the Friars playing both offensive and defensive line. Martin is the first Friar to play for Western State Colorado University.

TJ McMahon was a 3-year Varsity letterman for the Friars and a 1st Team All-Trinity League selection his senior season. He was also selected to play in the OC All-Star game and served the Friars as a Curia member and team captain. McMahon is the first Friar to play for the Bulldogs.

Parker Thomas was a 2-year Varsity letterman for the Friars and was selected to wear the Honored Jersey for this senior season in addition to serving the Friars as a member of the Curia. Thomas will be the first Friar to play at Colorado Mesa University.

Corbin Mercado is a 4-year Varsity letterman for the Friars being named Trinity League Defensive MVP and earning All-County honors last season. To date, he has also helped lead the Friars to 4 Trinity League titles and a CIF Championship during his time as a Friar. Mercado will join Servite alum Tim Burke ’17 at LMU.

Jose Sosa is a 3-year Varsity letterman for the Friars earning All-Trinity League accolades last season. He has also helped lead the Friars to their last three league titles. Sosa is the first Friar to play at the University of the Pacific since Ted Bennett in 1980.
