The Anaheim Rotary Club sourced and sponsored this third load of school books this year
to needy schools in Africa where many schools of 70 – 125 student per class have literally up-to ten
text books to share. These 2000 High School Books (donated by Servite High School Anaheim) are
destined to schools in Southern Africa.
The School Books are collected, stored, palletized and transported to Houston Texas where they are
grouped with other Books from other Rotary Districts throughout the Nation and loaded into a 40ft.
container en route to Africa – each container holds about 20,000 – 25,000 books.
Rotary to Rotary - When off-loaded and emptied in South Africa by local Rotary Clubs, the 40ft.
shipping containers are then converted to Libraries, medical clinics or other use for the communities.
Become a “BOOKLEGGER” - The project www.rotarybooksfortheworld.com is co-ordinated by
Rotarian Nev Roseman [email protected] who is available as a speaker to present this program to
your club – this Literacy project covers International, Vocational, Community, Club and New
Generations Avenues.
“ROTARY BOOKS FOR THE WORLD” is a recognized program by RI and is now providing one
container per week to 14 countries in Africa, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and of recent to South
America (Spanish language books). Over 1.6 million books were donated last year.
