The Servite community is strengthened by the families who choose to support their son’s formation by participating in life on campus by volunteering, participating in activities, and raising needed funds.  We are deeply grateful to all those who support our mission. Each year at the Baccalaureate Mass, Servite High School honors a few special family members of the graduating class who had a significant impact during their time at Servite.  On Thursday, May 30, Servite President Randall Adams presented awards of recognition to the following parents of the Class of 2019.

Joyce Peterson, mother of Jack ’19, was honored as an example of the type of servant leadership Servite strives to try to teach our students.  A volunteer who seeks to welcome new families through admissions events, build community and raise funds as part of the Fashion Show committee, and offer support for the coaches and players in a variety of ways as a team parent for multiple sports for multiple seasons, she had the opportunity to cheer her son and his friends to a CIF victory this year, as water polo took the title in Division 3.  Coach Andy Coffman says “her grace, patience, and diligence make her awesome at whatever she does.”

Vanessa Buchanan, mother of Connor ’19 and Kyle ’23 has held multiple leadership roles at Servite.  A team parent and admissions volunteer, she has also led our Parent Community Council and Peer Court.  A spirited supporter of Priory, Baseball, and campus life, she just may have saved lives as she passionately advocated to bring the very impactful Every 15 Minutes Program to our Servite and Rosary students this year.  Servite counselor Megen Anspach says “Her fierce devotion and deep love for the Servite community paired with her innate ability to connect people and resources are simply unmatched.”

Doug and Suzanne Ward are the parents of three Friars—Nigel ’15, Ian ’17 and Liam ‘19.  During their eight years at Servite, the Wards have been faithful supporters of a variety of programs and initiatives, including baseball, track, cross country, band, Excellence in Leadership, and tuition assistance.  Coach Richard Gibbs describes them as “selfless parents who support their sons in all ways positively, with the goal of developing men of character and faith.”  Their kindness has touched numerous lives and our community is better because of them.

Servite High School is grateful for their deep commitment, devotion and service to the Servite community.
