Servite Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Andrew Nguyen

GPA: 4.92

What is your favorite subject? Why? Biology, I loved learning about the human body and the complex processes behind simple tasks like breathing.

What teacher has most impacted you here at Servite? Why? Mr. Powers has probably been the teacher that impacted me most at Servite. While he has helped me academically, Mr. Powers has really made an impact on me by serving as a role model. He always finds a way to sprinkle in some knowledge during class about how to live life as both a man and a Catholic, and his character is something I want to emulate for the rest of my life.

Advice for freshmen on how to balance the academic and athletic rigors at Servite: The main way I balance my academics and athletics is through communication. If you’re missing school for a game, it’s important to let your teacher know in advance so you can make up assignments or tests. The teachers at Servite are very understanding and will be lenient if you just communicate properly.

What else are you involved in at Servite? Treasurer General on the Priory Leadership Council, Red Cross Club, NHS, CSF, Music Ministry

Career Interest- I plan on becoming a physician, and I’m interested in neurology and developmental-behavioral pediatrics.

Classes you’re currently taking- AP English Literature, AP Physics, HP Critical Reflections, AP Spanish, AP Calculus, AP Economics
