Servite High School is proud to announce the appointment of Matthew Marrujo ‘07 as Athletic Director. Marrujo will fill the opening left following Alan Clinton’s retirement.

Principal Stephen Walswick shared, “Matt is a proven leader whose experience and passion for Servite make him an outstanding choice to lead our Athletics Department. He has a deep commitment to forming faith-filled leaders and preparing student-athletes for lifelong success. I look forward to partnering with Matt to honor the legacy and tradition of Servite athletics while also building a bright future.”

Marrujo, who will remain in his current position as head volleyball coach, brings a vast amount of institutional knowledge as well as athletic experience to the job having worked previously as the Director of Admissions, Alumni Relations Manager, History Teacher and Assistant Dean of Students at Servite while being a former Friar student-athlete himself. Outside of Servite, he has served on a CIF Advisory Committee and the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American Selection Committee. He has also been recognized as the OCADA Coaches with Character Award winner.

Marrujo said, “I am excited for this opportunity to lead the Athletic Department. Servite has been my home for many years and I look forward to working with our coaches, student-athletes, parents and alumni to fulfill Servite’s mission of forming faith-filled leaders. I would like to thank Alan Clinton and Joel Hartmann for all of their support, guidance, and mentorship throughout the years. I am honored to be offered this very special opportunity and look forward to working with Principal Walswick, the Executive Team, and the Athletics Department to continue the strong tradition of academic and athletic excellence at Servite High School.”

Current Athletic Director Alan Clinton added, “We are excited for Matt to move into this role. He has a deep passion for Servite and has been influential in furthering the mission of Servite over the past decade. He has proven his ability to build a winning program with a culture rooted in Servite tradition and now all of our student-athletes will benefit from his experience.”

In addition to serving as head volleyball coach, Marrujo has been a key contributor to the athletic department over the last few years. He has been instrumental in helping administration introduce new programs like the Team Captains Leadership Council which aims to provide additional leadership opportunities for student-athletes to equip the team leaders on campus with strategies for personal growth and development.

Marrujo holds his Bachelor of Arts in History and Masters in Coaching & Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine.
