7 Holy Founders ChapelMonte Senario DistilleryServite Adv. Choir @ The Monte Senario Caves

Monte Senario

So today we a started the day out early at 6:20 in order to get to Monte Senario with  plenty of time. Once we got there it was wet and extremely foggy. Then we walked into the main Chapel at Monte Senario and we were practically siècle fed my the our amazement. The entire chapel was just stunning with beautiful sculptures everywhere we turned. Then we got an amazing tour of the main building. We went to the very first chapel, where it is believed that the 7 Holy Fathers had a vision of Mary. From there the guide took us around some hallways where we saw some amazing paintings, some of which were created by extremely famous and talented artists. Then we went to the newest chapel, The Seven Holy Founders Chapel, which was just as amazing as the other two. However the coolest part was that on the altar were the skulls and some remains of all the seven holy founders. From there we had lunch, prepared by the hotel, which was comprised of ham, cheese, and liver pâte sandwich, a banana, and small cake. This was an interesting meal because most of the guys didn’t exactly enjoy the the sandwiche because of the liver.  Following lunch we joined the Servites and some people from Florence in prayer. After we took a tour of the distillery which was extremely fascinating, because they did everything by hand. Later we rehearsed for a bit and then we has a little excursion led by Mr. Murphy. We visited some of the natural caves were the Seven Holy Founders would have retreated to when the needed it. We also looked at a present day hermitage on the property, which was very interesting. After a bit more of hiking we went back to the bus and came back to the hotel and had a wonderful dinner with a meat appetizer, meat pasta, where we found out that Americans actually overcook our pasta, a carrots and beef main, and we ended with a apple lemon cake, where we again sang happy Birthday to Coach K, as our tradition resumes. Over all it was an amazing day filled with fun, friends, and happiness.

We all can’t wait for tomorrow’s excitements as we celebrate Easter.
