Senior Jake Overman has committed to play football at Oregon State. The Friars’ tight end announced his decision on Twitter saying, “After much thought and consideration, the time has come. I have made up my mind on where I will be living out my childhood dream of playing Division 1 college football. I want to thank everyone who has believed in me from the beginning and those who have pushed me day in and day out to be the best overall version of myself.” He continued, “I’ve been praying for this moment for longer than I can remember and now that it’s finally here, I feel so blessed. With that being said, I am so excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Oregon State University. Corvallis I’m home!”
Overman, who held multiple offers, announced his top eight in August including Arizona, Cal, Kansas, Oregon State, UNLV, Utah, Vanderbilt and Washington before taking official visits and ultimately deciding to play for the Beavers.
“I chose Oregon State because of the overall fit,” he told BeaverBlitz. “I believe that it is the best place for me to spend my college football career and attend school and live for the next few years. I connect with the people in the area in so many ways and I’m so excited to get this thing going.”
A three-year varsity letterman for Servite Football, Overman was selected to the Curia his senior season and earned All-League recognition junior year.
Head Coach Troy Thomas shared, “I want to thank Jake for his four years in the Servite football program. We are excited to see him go onto Oregon State and represent the Servite family in a positive way.”
In addition to football, Overman is involved in the Admissions Committee at Servite while playing rugby and running track for the Friars during his high school career.
Overman is the fifth Friar from the football Class of 2020 to announce his college decision joining Ender Aguilar (Cal), Robert Krebs (Columbia), Jeminai Leuta-Ulu (UNLV) and Nicholas Martinez (Kansas).
In closing Overman would like to extend his thanks sharing, “I’d like to thank my family and coaches for always being supportive of my dream.”
Servite would like to congratulate Jake on an impressive high school career and wish him the best of luck as he takes the next steps on his journey.
