Senior Guillermo Ocasio has committed to play Water Polo at UCLA! The Friars’ center shared, “I chose UCLA because it is a great school with an amazing water polo program that will help me accomplish my goals.” He continued, “Coach Wright and his staff made me feel welcomed and comfortable throughout this process and I look forward to being part of the tradition of excellence at UCLA.”
A 4-year varsity letterman for the Friars, Ocasio is a 3x 1st Team All-Trinity League selection, 2x All-Orange County honoree and the reigning CIF Division 3 Player of the Year after helping lead Servite Water Polo to the 2018 CIF Championship!
Ocasio paced the team in goals scored each of his first three years in the program posting a career-high 131 goals last season.
Coach Andy Coffman shared, “I am very happy Guillermo and his family have made the decision for him to continue his water polo career at UCLA. It is a great institution for academics and athletics. Guillermo is an extremely talented player and his passion, hard work ethic, and dedication to water polo created an amazing opportunity. Guillermo will be a valuable asset to the team and I look forward to watching him continue to dominate at the next level.”
Ocasio is the first Friar from the Class of 2020 to commit to play collegiately after three from 2019 moved on to compete at the next level, two in water polo and one for swim.
Ocasio would like to thank his family and coaches for helping him throughout the recruiting process saying, “I would like to thank my family for supporting me with my decision. I would also like to thank my coaches from SOCAL especially Andrew Rowe who gave me the opportunity to play for the club. Also, thank you to my high school coach Andy Coffman for the support all these years, for believing in me and pushing me every day to become a better young man.”
Servite would like to congratulate Guillermo on this impressive accomplishment and wish him the best of luck as he competes in his senior season and throughout his college career at UCLA.
