It took 21 years, but Servite defeated Mater Dei in a classic Trinity League football game 30-20 at Anaheim Stadium. QB Cody Fajardo ’10 had the game of his life rushing for 131 yards and 3 TDs, and passing for 150 yards, including a touchdown pass to Troy Niklas ’11. Karifi Taula ’10 led the charge on defense. The team would go on to win Servite’s first outright CIF Football Championship, defeating Rockland 33-30 with four field goals by Nicholas Echeverry ’10. The Class of 2010 started a streak that was followed by wins over Mater Dei in 2010 and 2011.
