From 1970 to 1992, Fr. Kevin Fitzpatrick, OSM, was universally loved by students who attended Servite during those years. A native of South Africa, he was an Algebra and Religion teacher. He is best known for his love of and care for the Aquatics Program. He even gave haircuts to students. He did whatever he could to help students and enhance their experience. Two aquatic athletes, Jim Belardi ’75 and Tim Buckley ’73, thought so highly of ‘Fr. Fitz’ that they made lead donations for the Aquatic Center constructed in 2017 and named it in his memory, The Fr. Kevin Fitzpatrick Aquatic Center. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1954 and then taught math at St. Philip Benizi High School in Chicago for 16 years. Following his time at Servite, he worked as associate pastor of Christ the King Parish in Portland, Oregon. He held a Master of Education from Loyola University of Chicago. The 1984 Yearbook was dedicated in his honor. He passed away in 1997 at the age of 70.
