Diego Gonzalez has committed to play golf at Embry-Riddle University. The Friars senior said, “I chose Embry-Riddle for its aviation and golf programs. I saw the great teamwork and camaraderie that everyone on the golf team shared and I wanted to be a part of that.”
Gonzalez is a four-year member of the Servite Golf program helping the Friars win league titles at multiple levels.
Head Coach Dane Jako shared, “We are very proud of Diego for earning the opportunity to play golf at the next level! We applaud his work ethic and dedication to reaching his goals.”
In addition to golf, Gonzalez is also involved in JSA, Spanish Club and Campus Ministry at Servite. He is also a longtime member of The First Tee of Orange County.
Gonzalez is the fourth member of the class of 2020 to commit to play college golf joining Alex Hanz (UCSD), Nic Harrison (Amherst) and Cameron Xiao (CSUF).
In closing Gonzalez shared, “Coach Jako and Wayre, thank you so much for letting me be a part of this fantastic golf team for the past four years. These are some of the best memories I have of my high school experience.” He continued, “To my family, none of this could’ve been possible without all of your encouragement and tough love that kept me going during the practice sessions, the many ups and downs, and everything else. Thank you so much!”
Servite would like to congratulate Diego and wish him the best as he concludes his high school career and heads off to college.
