After a brief career in the USFL as a wide receiver and coaching football at the collegiate level, Dane Jako began working at Servite in 1998. He was hired as an Assistant Varsity Football Coach and physical education teacher. After three years of coaching at the Varsity level, he was asked to be Head Coach of the Freshman Football Team. His role has been critical in preparing young men to compete at the Varsity level. In 2001, he was named Head Coach of the Golf Team and has guided the Friars to 12 league championships and 5 CIF Southern Section championships. Under Coach Jako’s guidance, the Golf Program has tripled in size and become one of the largest in all of California and regularly ranked in the top 3 in Orange County. Coach Jako is a graduate of Artesia High School where he played football, baseball and track. He has a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Exercise Physiology from Upper Iowa University where he played football and baseball. He was an All-American wide receiver in football and an all-conference center fielder in baseball. He is a 5-time Orange County Coach of the Year and was also named California State Coach of the Year.
