Senior Brady Childs has signed to play baseball at Drury University. The Friars’ right-handed pitcher shared, “I chose Drury University for several reasons but mostly because when I first stepped on the campus I felt a connection there that I did not experience at the other colleges.” He went on to say, “I am looking forward to playing baseball at Drury because I felt that the coaches are very connected with the players and the baseball team is very connected with the school and I was looking for that in a program.”

Childs is a four-year member of the baseball team and a two-year varsity letterman for the Friars.

Coach Shawn Gilbert shared, “On behalf of the baseball program, we would like to congratulate Brady on his commitment to Drury University. Brady has displayed a great work ethic and has proven to be a great teammate during his time at Servite. He will have a chance to contribute on our pitching staff with a solid fastball and a slider this season.” He continued, “Drury is a great fit for him. After visiting several schools he felt comfortable at Drury and felt it was the best option. We look forward to watching Brady further develop as a pitcher and an individual at the next level.”

Childs, who plans to study Business at Drury, has been involved with Priory at Servite in addition to baseball. He has also volunteered with the Tustin Eastern Little League and is a member of the National League of Young Men.

Childs is the fifth baseball player to commit and the first member of the senior class to make his college decision. When he arrives at Drury, he will join his older brother and fellow pitcher Colby Childs ’17 in playing for the Panthers.

In closing, Childs added, “I would like to thank my parents and coaches for getting me to where I am today and pushing me to be who I am today!”

Servite would like to congratulate Brady on this exciting accomplishment and wish him the best as he finishes his high school career and continues on to compete collegiately.
