Benjamin Hong has committed to play golf at Dartmouth. The Friars’ junior shared, “I chose Dartmouth because I liked the golf coach and I wanted to experience life on the east coast.”
A four-year varsity letterman for Servite by the time he graduates, Hong helped lead the Friars to Trinity League and CIF Championships in both his freshman and sophomore years with the team going undefeated in 2019 and 2020 until play was suspended. Individually, he earned 2nd Team All-League honors twice while finishing as match medalist on eight occasions to date.
Coach Dane Jako shared, “Ben is a great example of what Servite is all about. Not only is he a great player but also a great teammate, student and young man. I know his family is very proud of this remarkable accomplishment, as they should be, because Ben has more than earned this esteemed honor.” He continued, “I am very saddened the season ended this year the way it did but the one silver lining is that Ben is just a junior and will be able to return for his senior season to defend the team’s league and CIF championships.”
After completing his senior year of high school, Hong plans to study economics at Dartmouth.
Hong is the sixth Friar in Servite’s golf program to announce his college commitment and the second from the class of 2021 joining William Sung who is also headed to an Ivy League school having committed to Columbia.
In closing Hong shared, “Thank you Coach Jako for your support throughout my time at Servite, on and off the golf course. Thank you to my parents who pushed me to work harder and have supported me through my ups and downs.”
Servite would like to congratulate Hong and wish him the best as he concludes his high school career and looks toward the future.
