Servite students from our Art Classes recently participated in Memory Project, a nonprofit organization that invites art teachers and their students to create and donate portraits to youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges. Our students recently created portraits for children in Syria and were just given a video of them receiving them.

“The children were so excited to receive your artwork and very touched by your efforts to create such special gifts,” said a spokesperson from Memory Project. “They live in stark conditions in the refugee camps, and to receive portraits made just for them was truly a unique experience for all.”

Memory Project receives photos of children and teens from global charities operation residential homes, schools, and care centers in a number of countries every year. They then provide participating art teachers with full-page color prints as well as digital copies of these photos. From there, the art teachers work with their students to create portraits and Memory Project hand delivers them.
