Servite Junior Emanuel Dean has committed to play baseball at the University of California, Los Angeles. The Friars outfielder chose UCLA because he believes it is one of the best schools in the nation that will help him develop not only as a baseball player but also as a person.
Dean, who also held offers from Cal State University Northridge and Saint Mary’s, plans to study Sports Law at UCLA.
A 3-year Varsity letterman for the Friars by the time he graduates, Dean was named a Perfect Game Underclass All-American and has traveled across the country this offseason to compete in some of the nation’s top tournaments.
Coach Gilbert is proud of Dean’s commitment sharing, “Emanuel Dean is a tremendously gifted athlete with a bright future. He has the ability to be an impact bat both at Servite and in college and quite possibly as draftable player in the professional amateur draft after his senior year.” He added, “I am proud of the way he has improved his work ethic and leadership skills and look forward to seeing him reach his potential as he continues to grow as a young man and baseball player.”
With his commitment to the Bruins, Dean becomes the 8th Friar to commit to playing college baseball and the second from his class. He will follow in the footsteps of Servite grad Darrell Miller Jr. ’12 who played for the Bruins from 2013-2016.
