For those who are unaware, Red & Gold is a production that has been present in the lives of student’s at Rosary High School since 1971. The school is split into two teams, Red and Gold, including a black team which handles all the technical side of the production, and led by a white team (a few hand selected seniors). The white team then proceeds to pick captains for categories such as Dance, Choral, Drama, Props, Publicity, etc. and then fills them with students from the student body. Those captains are put to the test for the next few months and are expected to organize and direct the girls in the category assigned to them for the production. A lot of behind the scenes work is put into Red and Gold such as directing, script writing, creating the media for the show, costume designs, and so much more. Rosary also takes ten minutes out of each block period to have a “flex” period where they practice for the show. The show is then put on for their friends, family, and community at the Servite Theatre. This year the shows were really good, and I caught a lot of people wanting to dance to the music. The stories were thoroughly written and followed the theme “Everything Fades to Black.” The winner of this years Red & Gold was awarded to the Gold team, Congrats ladies!
