Senior volleyball players Gil Herold, Chris Morikawa and Christian Oviedo have been selected to play in this year’s OC All-Star game held May 21st at Newport Harbor HS at 7:30pm!
All three Friars are three-year varsity letterman and starters for Servite helping lead the team to the 2019 Trinity League Championship. They are also all headed to play college volleyball with Herold and Oviedo going to Concordia University, Irvine and Morikawa signed to play for UC Merced.
Gil Herold plays middle blocker for Servite finishing his career with 279 kills and 184 blocks, 3rd most in school history. He also tallied 92 blocks his junior season to finish 3rd for most blocks in a season.
Chris Morikawa plays opposite and setter for the Friars focusing mainly on hitting his senior season. In his three-year varsity career he tallied 625 kills, 770 assists, 169 blocks, 365 digs and 53 aces. His career kills total lands him 4th all-time while his career blocks put him in 4th as well, just behind Herold. He also finished in the top five in career aces.
Christian Oviedo sets for Servite. Throughout this three-year career running the offense, he tallied 1570 assists, 3rd all-time. He also recorded 422 digs and 29 aces.
Servite wishes these three Friars the best of luck in the all-star game and as they represent the volleyball program at the collegiate level.
