Senior Uriel Sanchez has committed to play soccer at Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Friars’ midfielder shared, “I was attracted to CSUDH because it’s a good school with a lot of diversity. I also liked the soccer environment and the fact that it’s close to the LA Galaxy’s stadium.”
A three-year varsity letterman for the Friars, Sanchez was selected Trinity League MVP, All-CIF and All-Orange County following his junior season. He was also named to the Top Drawer Soccer All-State and All-Region team in addition to being offered a spot to play in the inaugural AllState All-American Cup.
Servite coach Jon Spencer shared, “We are excited to see Uriel commit to Cal State Dominguez Hills. He has been an integral part of our soccer program the last few seasons and has helped us become Trinity League Champions. Uriel has some very good talent and we look forward to continuing to see him develop into the best player he can be at Dominguez Hills. Congratulations Uriel!”
Sanchez, who plays club soccer for Pateadores Academy, plans to study sociology or criminology at CSUDH.
With his commitment, Sanchez becomes the second soccer player from the Class of 2020 to make his college decision joining David Mitzner (University of Portland). He is also the third Friar to play for the Toros in recent years following in the footsteps of Alex Pinon ’17 and Zuriel Silva ’19.
In closing Sanchez said, “I want thank my family and coaches for sticking with me throughout this process and helping me get to this next stage in my life.”
