Track & Field Goes Unbeaten to Win Back-to-Back Trinity League Titles

Servite Track & Field won their 2nd consecutive Trinity League title after going undefeated in league competition this season. The Friars opened league play with a dominant performance vs. JSerra where they outscored the Lions 93-42 then kept the momentum going against Santa Margarita defeating the Eagles, 78-56. Servite then topped Orange Lutheran on the road, 82-54 before ultimately clinching the title vs. St. John Bosco at home with a 76-54 victory. The Friars completed the sweep last week at Mater Dei besting the Monarchs by a narrow margin to remain unbeaten.

Julius Irvin led a team of impressive sprinters winning the 100m Dash four times while posting a wind-aided 10.59 vs. Santa Margarita. He also anchored the 4x100m relay team that defeated Santa Margarita, Orange Lutheran and Mater Dei. In addition, he twice ran the 200m Dash, winning both races.

Vince Sarino paced the Friars in the middle distances winning five of the eight races in which he competed, three times taking the top spot in the 800m run and twice coming in 1st in the 1600m run.

Mauro Rosales and Liam Ward were the top finishers for Servite in the 3200m run with each runner winning the race twice during league competition.

The Servite hurdlers took the Trinity League by storm sweeping an amazing six of their 10 races led by Christian Ojeda who won the 110m Hurdles vs. JSerra, Santa Margarita, Orange Lutheran and Mater Dei while Nathan Lacson was the top finisher in the 300m Hurdles against JSerra, St. John Bosco and Mater Dei. Kyle Kimble also won the 300 vs. Santa Margarita while finishing in the top three in five other league races.

In the field events, Pierson O’Connell won all three Pole Vault events in which he participated posting a league-high mark of 14′ 8″ vs. Santa Margarita.

Zachary Steele consistently placed for the Friars in the High Jump winning the event vs. JSerra and Orange Lutheran while taking 2nd against Santa Margarita, St. John Bosco and Mater Dei.

Fellow jumper Lincoln Duran won the Long Jump three times in Trinity League competition and the Triple Jump once while finishing on the podium three additional times.

The Friars also posted impressive marks in the Discus and Shot Put sweeping the competition three times in the Discus and once in the Shot Put. Lucky Nelson led the Friars in the Discus winning the event three times while finishing as runner-up once. Braden Sprenger and Joe Christensen consistently placed in the top three with each thrower winning one event.

Servite Track & Field now turns their focus to Trinity League Prelims which will be held Thursday at Santa Margarita at 2pm.
