Tomas Colunga began his infamous teaching career at Servite during the Fall of 1987. His first classes taught at Servite were Latin and Spanish, but he soon moved into the Science Department and taught Physics for the next 22 years. He was known for his calm demeanor in the classroom and having a good rapport with students. His daily mantra was “Physics is fun.” He knew how to get students to work with their Physic’s formulas by reminding his students that the,” formulas are your friends” and that you had to “trust your friends.” He is fondly remembered by having his students sing Physics themed Christmas carols every year. Mr. Colunga was known for his eagerness to help students, his helpfulness in the classroom and his good story telling. He understood the Servite Way of promoting brotherhood, camaraderie, and academics. The 1992 Yearbook was dedicated to him. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Physics from the University of Texas El Paso and Masters in Education from California State University Fullerton. He and his wife reside near Flagstaff, Arizona.
