Servite Wrestling made program history this weekend winning the CIF Masters Tournament for the first time ever! The Fight’n Friars finished with 185 team points topping Trinity League rival St. John Bosco (175.5) and perennial power house Temecula Valley (109).
The victory adds to the Fight’n Friars impressive list of championships this season having won Trinity League, the CIF-SS Dual Meet and the CIF-SS Central Division title.
Individually, Servite advanced a school-record eight wrestlers to next weekend’s CIF State Tournament finishing with two Masters runner-ups, two 3rd place finishers, three 4th place medal winners and one 5th place finisher!
Andrew Silva (113) and Tristen Wilson (195) were the top medal winners for Servite finishing as runner-ups in a highly competitive field of wrestlers. For Silva, it will be his second trip to the state tournament after qualifying as a junior as well.
Additional placers for the Friars by weight class included Marcos Magaña (126)- 4th, Josh Medina (132)- 3rd, Teddy Okada (138)- 4th, Daniel Magaña (145)- 4th, Valor Buck (152)- 3rd and Neil Carter (170)- 5th.
The CIF State Tournament will be held this Thursday-Saturday in Bakersfield.
