On Thursday, the Friars suited up for the first Trinity League meet against the Orange Lutheran Lancers. Servite started off league competition strong, winning varsity with a team score of 101-69, junior varsity with a team score of 105-60 and Open with a team score of 100-0!
The Friar relay teams had first place finishes in all three relay events of the meet. Sam Diamond ’22, coming off a 58.57s first place finish in the 100Y Backstroke, got the team off to a strong start with his backstroke leg of the 200Y Medley Relay. Alexander Kowalski ‘21 had himself a day with individual first place finishes in both the 200Y and 500Y Free, followed by speedy performances in his respective legs of the Friar’s first place 200Y and 400Y Free Relays.
In the individual events, Diamond also came in first place in the 200Y IM by almost 10 seconds with a time of 2:06.43! Junior, Patrick Edwards, had two very close second place finishes in the 50Y and 100Y Freestyle events, just missing first by fractions of second in each. Isaac Sanchez ‘23 also had a strong 59.87 second place finish in the 100Y Fly, and Tanner McCreary ’23 secured a tight first place finish in the 100Y Breast with a time of 1:07.04. Servite took all three podium spots in the 500Y Freestyle event. Kowalski ‘21 swam a dominating 4:54.19 to secure first place with Andrew Cagney ’23 taking second and Ryan Oldewurtel ’22 taking third with times of 5:26.61 and 5:27.85 respectively.
