It might not be Servite soccer season yet but college soccer programs are in full swing with 13 Friar alumni hard at work playing for their respective schools. Alumni who have helped instill the tradition of excellence within the Servite program while winning both team and individual awards along the way.
Seniors from Servite’s CIF Championship team, Oscar Flores ’15 (CSUF) and Joe LaCasto ’15 (UNC Asheville) are staples in their respective programs with LaCasto being recognized as a team captain both his junior and senior seasons while fellow 2015 graduate Roman Manning has found a new home at Vanguard University for the 2018 season.
Garrett Amador ’16 and Michael Godinez ’16 are also donning new jerseys this year with Amador going from LMU to SDSU and Godinez joining his classmate Noah Ferrel and newcomer Nic Hernandez ’18 at Chapman. Zane Rojas ’16 remains at West Point having started every game for Army this season.
Representing the Class of 2017, Tim Burke is in his second season at LMU and is now playing with Corbin Mercado ’18 who has made an impact with the Lions early earning a start in their season opener. Jose Sosa ’18 has also shined starting all five games for the University of Pacific while already tallying his first collegiate goal in addition to recording two assists. Alongside Manning, Marc Trejo ’18 has gotten considerable minutes at Vanguard playing in all five of their games while starting two.
