Kevin Olivier was chosen to be the John Marshall Elementary school Principal for a day based on his creation of a program where our students go over to John Marshall and teach a PE Class.  PE was cut from this school and our priory decided to help out the school by teaching a PE class.

“We went over to John Marshall Elementary around 8:30 and and sat and watched the principal, Mr. Magdaleno, teach a short English class. This was followed by us going back to his office and him telling us a little bit about the school and the schedule for the day. We then spent the rest of the time shadowing him throughout the school. We visited classes, briefly stopped by his office to check e-mails, and supervised a recess. After our time at the school, we went to a luncheon at the district office where they did a short program for all the “principals for the day”.  Overall, it was a great experience. I learned a lot about leadership and how staying visible and accessible to those who work for you is very important. John Marshall’s Spanish-English program is excelling and their test scores are rising because of it.  Mr. Magdaleno is making a huge impact on the school and it is only his first year as a principal there.”
