“Servite High School and Santa Margarita High School Celebrate a Night of Coins for a Cure”
The Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness Clubs at Servite High School and Santa Margarita Catholic High School are proud to announce the inaugural “Coins for a Cure” football game on November 11th, 2011 to benefit the St. Jude Memorial Foundation. Servite High School will host Santa Margarita High School in a Trinity League football battle at Cerritos College at 7:30pm and will be webcast on Fox Sports. Both schools are encouraging their attending fans to wear pink in support of the cause.
The “Coins for a Cure” campaign and will offer fans in attendance the opportunity to donate in the fight against breast cancer. All donations will be given to St. Jude’s Memorial Foundation. Pasquale Talarico, Director of Campus Ministry at Servite High School stated, “The Servite Order and the Sisters of St. Joseph have partnered in ministry for over fifty years and this is yet another opportunity for us to work together.”
Attendees may place into donation jugs located at the front gates, this night will also give fans an opportunity to place names of loved ones battling with cancer or those who may have left this world, on a list that will be used in liturgies around the nation for prayer and especially masses offered at the National Shrine of St. Peregrine, in Chicago. In case you did not know, St. Peregrine is the patron saint for cancer patients.
The Pink Ribbon Clubs from both schools will be distributing educational information on Breast Cancer Awareness and Early Detection in an effort to increase local community awareness about volunteer opportunities to support Breast Cancer Awareness, as well as raise money to donate to local Breast Cancer organizations.
Through the cooperation of schools, and their fans, the Pink Ribbon Clubs are hoping to light a flame of hope to shine through the darkness which plagues both men and women, who suffer from this horrible disease.
