Benjamin Martins

Cross Country
GPA: 4.22

What is your favorite subject? Why? My favorite subject is Critical Thinking because it really dives deep into worldly problems and the hard questions that many of us are hesitant to answer. The class allows us to find a deeper meaning for life and learn more about ourselves, which has been very impactful, especially during these difficult times.

What teacher has most impacted you here at Servite? Why? The Chemistry and AP Environmental Science teacher, Mrs. DiCrisi has impacted me the most here at Servite. In times of hardship in school or even unrelated to academics, she will always make time for her students. I am very grateful to have learned about science and life in general from her.

Advice for freshmen on how to balance the academic and athletic rigors at Servite: My advice regarding academics, athletics, and extracurriculars would be to always have a plan in place. Find tutors or study periods you can attend before you are struggling in a class. Talk to your coach if arrangements need to be made in order for you to get your schoolwork done. Most importantly, prioritize your mental health. You’ll find that here at Servite, teachers and coaches are very understanding and sympathetic towards their students, especially in times of difficulty.

What else are you involved in at Servite? Currently, I am a Prior, President/Founder of Together We Rise which hosts and participates in fundraisers for foster children, and Vice President of NHS which dedicates their time to helping the less fortunate in a variety of ways. I am also involved in CSF tutoring and Campus Ministry.

Career interest- In terms of a career, I am interested in becoming a physical therapist or something related to helping children with their mental or physical health. I would very much like to come back to Servite sometime in the future to share my gifts and experiences.

Classes you’re currently taking- CP English, CP Economics, HP Critical Reflections, Principles of Discipleship, AP Statistics, HP Physics
