Biology teacher Ron Schoeman began his teaching ministry at Servite in 1990. Previously, he taught at Salesian High School for 2 years. In the spring of 1990, his brother Gary ’92, was asked by former Principal Fr. Patrick Donovan, OSM, if he knew of any biology teachers. That led to Ron applying for a biology position at Servite. Ron knew of the rigorous academics at Servite and wanted to be part of preparing the best and brightest in Orange County. He is known for starting class with a prayer that sets a context for the study of biology: “Creator of Fungi, Octopi and Platypi, as we study biology, enkindle in us a reverence for life. Thank you for giving us minds that can know. Encourage us when our studies are difficult and when we are tempted to give up. Enlighten us when our brains are slow.” This prayer helps set the stage for developing in students an appreciation for the intricacies of life and love for the sciences. His favorite Servite experience is feeling the electricity of the student cheering section at sporting events and the band of brotherhood. Ron received his Bachelor’s degree from Cal State University, Fullerton, Masters degree from Loyola Marymount University and teaching credential from Chapman University.
