Patrick Cantlay ’10 finished 4th at this weekend’s Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide coming in at 14 under, just one shot back of the eventual champion, Bryson DeChambeau. It’s the fifth time Cantlay has placed in the top five since returning to the PGA Tour in February of 2017 and his ninth finish in the top 10.
The highlight of the weekend came on Saturday as Cantlay scored a hole-in-one on the 8th hole at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. According to Golf.com, he used a 7-iron on the 185-yard, par-3 hole where the ball landed just short of the pin then dropped in on the second bounce. The ace was the second of his career and his second this season with his first coming in February at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the 11th hole at Monterey Peninsula.
Over the four-day tournament, Cantlay posted scores of 68 (-4), 69 (-3), 66 (-6) and 71 (-1) with 17 birdies and three eagles.
Cantlay now sits at 13th in the Fedex Cup standings, up five spots from last week with the U.S. Open just two weeks away.
