Patricia Callahan began teaching English at Servite in 1976 and immediately became a fixture with her radiating and caring personality. She challenged her students to seek complexity and meaning in their lives and was considered an inspiration to students fortunate to meet her. She taught from her heart with care for her students that still shines in them. Colleagues described her as a vibrant and vital force throughout the school, personifying everything that Servite strived to be. Fr. Gerald Horan ’73, OSM, commented, “She helped to make our claim of excellence a proven commodity.” After the 2000 school year, she ‘retired’ to continue work on her Ph. D. in English. The 2000 yearbook was dedicated in her honor.
