Nolan Blachowski has committed to pole vault at the University of Notre Dame! The Friars’ senior shared, “I chose Notre Dame because I wanted to go to a university that would not only challenge me academically, but also provide a community that seeks to further develop me as a scholar, leader, and brother.” He continued, “When I first reached out to the coaches at Notre Dame, they were very welcoming and truly invested their time in me to ensure my success. I’m sure during my next four years they’ll develop me into a great competitor.”

A three-year varsity letterman for Servite Track and Field, Blachowski is the defending Trinity League pole vault champion and a two-time CIF qualifier while helping lead the team to their third straight league title last year. When competition was suspended earlier this season, he had jumped a career high 15′ 5″ to win the Roosevelt Invitational.

Head Track and Field Coach Richard Gibbs shared, “Nolan is the quintessential Servite
man, great character and work ethic. This carried over to the vault, long hours of practice leading to what might have made him the best vaulter in school history. Although his high school career was cut short, we look forward to see what he can accomplish at the next level.”

Blachowski, who will study at Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, is involved with Priory, the Sanberg International Leadership Program, the Investment Club and the Red Cross Club in addition to Track and Field at Servite. He also volunteers at the Santiago Retreat Center.

In closing he shared, “I can’t thank my family enough for their unconditional support and continual sacrifices so that I am able to have the opportunities I am blessed with today. To my coaches, I am forever grateful for their constant encouragement and mentorship, helping me learn from both failure and success, as well as providing me with a solid foundation for continued growth in my future endeavors.”

Servite would like to congratulate Nolan and wish him the best as he moves onto Notre Dame to continue his academic and athletic career.
