Senior Nick Sheremetta ’21 has committed to play Division 1 lacrosse at Bellarmine. The Friars’ defenseman shared, “I choose Bellarmine because location wise it is in a beautiful suburb outside of Lousiville. They have a strong accounting program, and Coach Marks and Whitley are building a special program bringing in a strong recruiting class. I can’t wait to get out there to help them win the SoCon.”
Sheremetta is a two-year varsity letterman for Servite having been selected to this summer’s Under Armour All-American West Team. He has also been named a team captain for the 2020-2021 season.
Coach Tom O’Leary said, “Nick is a consummate competitor. He joins a very short list of young men from this program that have been granted the opportunity to go play at the Division 1 level. The skill set Nick possesses (both life and lacrosse related) are yielded from copious hours of personally challenging himself to achieve new goals. It is very apparent that Nick thrives in any process of self improvement, and is driven to work long before and after many others call it a day.”
He continued, “While his time here at Servite is limited to just a few months, his impact in the school, on our roster, and in our county will be immense. I want to not only congratulate Nick and his parents, but Bellarmine University and Coach Whitley on gaining a great young man to help progress their program.”
Sheremetta is the first lacrosse player from a talented senior class to announce his college decision.
In closing Sheremetta shared, “I want to thank my family for sacrificing so much and always believing in me. My parents work just about from sun up to sundown, and I wouldn’t be where I am and who I am today without them. My parents deserve so much credit, and I am so blessed to call them my mom and dad. To Coach O’Leary, nobody knows how great of a role model as a man and a coach you are. The whole program is so lucky to have you there as our head coach.”
The 2021 lacrosse season is scheduled to begin in mid March.
