Senior offensive lineman Nicholas Martinez announced his college commitment on Twitter sharing, “So honored and excited to announce that after a great official visit, I have committed to the University of Kansas to continue my football and academic career! Thank you to all the coaches that recruited me.”
Martinez, who also held offers from Idaho State, ASU, University of South Dakota and UAB, was attracted to Kansas because it felt like the closest thing to home. He shared, “I loved the coaches, facilities, Kansas in general and the brotherhood the players shared together.”
A three-year varsity letterman for the Friars, Martinez earned 2nd Team All-Trinity League recognition following his junior year after being selected to wear the No. 78 Honored Jersey for the 2018 season.
Servite Coach Troy Thomas shared, “Kansas is getting a great young man in Nick Martinez. I believe he will help their culture as he has helped ours with his commitment and toughness.”
In addition to football, Martinez is also a track and field athlete for the Friars competing in Discus and Shot Put.
Martinez is the second member of the football class of 2020 to make his college decision joining Ender Aguilar who is headed to Cal.
In closing, Martinez added, “I would like to thank my parents for always believing in me, loving me, and taking me to every practice, camp, and training, I would also like to thank my coaches for pushing me to do the best and building me into the player I am today. Lastly, I would like to thank my brother Dominic for putting up with me all these years and for always being my number 1 fan and supporter, can’t wait to spend a year with you at Servite!”
Servite would like to congratulate Nick on this achievement and wish him the best of luck his senior season and beyond!
