Senior Neil Carter has committed to wrestle at Life Pacific University! The Friars’ 160lb wrestler shared, “I chose LPU because it’s close to home and I will get to continue my education at a Christ-centered university.  I also like the idea of smaller class sizes where I will have a more personal relationship with the professors and staff.”

Carter was specifically attracted to the Warriors wrestling program because of the new head coach sharing, “I look forward to the opportunity to work with Coach Roye Oliver. He was an alternate on the 1984 USA Olympic Team and believes in my abilities and that I will be able contribute to the team as a true freshman.”

A three-year varsity letterman for Servite Wrestling, Carter is a 3x Trinity League placer, 2x CIF placer, 2x Masters placer and 2x state qualifier. He also won a CIF-SS Individual Championship at 170lbs his junior season. In addition, he is a 2x All-Orange County selection while tallying 90 wins during his high school career. Lastly, he helped the team win Trinity League, two CIF-SS Championships and Masters in 2019!

Coach Clinton shared, “Neil is an outstanding young man who has dedicated the past four+ years to being successful and a high achiever in the sport of wrestling. He has worked extremely hard and his efforts have paid off affording him the opportunity to compete at the next level.”

Carter is the third wrestler from the class of 2020 to announce his college commitment joining Josh Medina (Cal Poly SLO) and Valor Buck (US Air Force Academy).

In closing, Carter shared, “I would like to thank my coaches, Coach Alan Clinton and Coach Tony Okada, for guiding me through the sport of wrestling and pushing me to be the best I can be on and off the mat. Without there skills, knowledge, and overall devotion to wrestling, I wouldn’t have been where I am today and I can’t thank them enough for that.”

He continued, “I would like to thank my parents, Neil and April Carter, for sending me to such a great school, being there for me every day and supporting me in all that I do. They are always at my matches cheering me on and whether I win or lose they are always by my side. I would also like to thank Coach Perfetto for helping me keep track of my grades and making sure that I stay on top of them so I can be successful in life outside of wrestling.”

He concluded, “Lastly, but certainly not least, I would like to thank my brothers. You guys are an amazing group of people, and I am so grateful for all of the memories we have made together. These last four years have gone by so fast and it’s crazy to think that its all over. All of you guys have kept me accountable and have sacrificed so much for the whole of the team and that says a lot about your guys’ character. I love all of you guys and I’m proud to call each and every one of you my brother. Credo!”

Servite would like to congratulate Neil as he moves onto compete collegiately and wish him the best in the next stages of life!
