Name: Maria Braatz

Role: Rapunzel

Briefly tell us about your role:
I am playing the role of Rapunzel, a princess who has been trapped in a tower by her mother, the Witch, all her life and finds her true love at the bottom of the tower.

How are you preparing for your specific role?
I am preparing for my role by constantly practicing my “Rapunzel Call” and really looking deeper to what kinda of character Rapunzel is.

What is your favorite song from the show?
My favorite song from the show is Agony because it always makes me laugh!

Can you share a favorite Tri-School memory?
My favorite Tri-School memory was probably the first day of “Bye Bye Birdie”. I loved the feeling of being on stage and watching all my hard work pay off.

Favorite subject in school/Favorite teacher?
Right now, my favorite subject will have to be Chemistry. I love all the math that goes into it. My teacher, Mrs. Hunt, is amazing at explaining hard topics.

Are you involved in anything outside of Tri-School?
Besides Tri-School Theatre, I am involved in Rosary’s Tennis Team and Rosary’s Ambassador Program.

If someone could play YOU in the movie of your life, who would it be?
If I could choose someone to play me in a movie about my life, it would be Jennifer Garner.

What are you excited for audiences to see in “Into the Woods”?
I am excited for the audience to hear all of the amazing music put on by the students! The score is outstanding!

Anyone you would like to thank?
I would like to thanks my parents for allowing me to be in Theatre and for driving me around for rehearsal. I would also like to thank Mr. Marrone and Coach K. Thank you both for always pushing me to step out of my comfort zone and believing in me.

Name: Molly Renze
School: Rosary Academy
Role: the Witch

Briefly tell us about your role:
She’s a vain, self-serving, and sarcastic, woman who later shows the audience that she’s insecure, lonely, and ultimately just as human as everybody else.

How are you preparing for your specific role?
Everytime I enter rehearsal, I close the outside world off and really try to enter into my character. Although I have no experience being a mother, I do understand the feeling of losing someone and not feeling accepted by the world. I try to take her story to heart and relate it to my own. My voice and physicality will be drawn from some versions I’ve seen, but in reality everything I end up doing with this character will be my own exciting version.

What is your favorite song from the show?
Stay with Me because it shows an intense emotional connection between a mother and a daughter and that’s hard for high schoolers to show. It’s definitely an exciting challenge.

Can you share a favorite Tri-School memory?
I have many favorite Tri-School memories, but the best I can think of was during The Would-Be Gentleman tech week. A bunch of us went down into the pit and grabbed some wig heads and put them on top of our own heads and covered the top with our hoodies. We ran around backstage and everyone was cracking up. It was a fun break from an exhausting tech run.

Favorite subject in school/Favorite teacher?
My favorite subject in school is Journalism and my favorite Teacher is Mrs. Barclay.

Are you involved in anything outside of Tri-School?
I am a Royal Ambassador, Red and Gold Script Captain, Tri-M President, Journalism Editor-in-Chief, and TACSC Leader.

If someone could play YOU in the movie of your life, who would it be?
Definitely Kristin Wiig! She’s my comedy queen and I feel I embody her comical spirit and drive for success.

What are you excited for audiences to see in “Into the Woods”?
I’m SUPER excited for them to see how hard we have worked. Usually in some musicals, not everyone gets a chance to share their story. But, in this show everyone onstage has a very important role so I’m excited for them to see how different our characters are and how when we work together we can make such a beautiful story!

Anyone you would like to thank?
I can’t believe this will be my last show with Tri-School! I would like to thank the entire Tri-School community for always having faith in me and giving me endless opportunities! I can proudly say that Tri-School helped me become a strong artist with a passion to create!
