Name: Juliana Maldonado
School: Rosary Academy ‘20
Role: Lucinda
Briefly tell us about your role:
Throughout Act I the audience will find that Lucinda is not the classic evil step sister, but she is more envious than jealous of Cinderella. She is also deemed more of the younger& oblivious sibling who follows what her sister and mother do. And nearing the end of Act I Lucinda is the one to get her heel cut off for she is kind of second choice of who her mother wants to marry the prince.
How are you preparing for your specific role?
To prepare for this role I am watching a conversation piece with Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine who talk about character motives so I can get a better view on how to portray Lucinda and making choices with my “sister” to help better my portrayal.
What is your favorite song from the show?
My favorite song from the show would have to be hands down the first part “Children Will Listen” in the finale.
Can you share a favorite Tri-School memory?
My favorite Tri-School memory so far would have to be singing the overture for “Bye Bye Birdie” in the pit.
There is a tie between history and English for my favorite subject. And I really don’t have a favorite teacher because they are all so amazing!

What is your favorite song from the show?
Can you share a favorite Tri-School memory?
Favorite subject in school/Favorite teacher?
My favorite subject in school would have to be Honors Precalculus because even though most people do not like math, I like memorizing different trigonometric identities at the class itself. My favorite teacher(s) are Mrs. Toomey for Studio Art and Mrs. Morris for English IV because I love how they teach it makes it so interesting and I love talking with them. Also, shoutout to Mr. Marrone for being an awesome theatre teacher and director.
Are you involved in anything outside of Tri-School?
Yes I am! I am the Co-President of Advanced Women’s Ensemble Choir and I sing every Saturday as a lead cantor at my local church, Saint Justin Martyr for nine years. I am also involved in Connelly’s Ambassador Program for potential Connelly students and one of the board members for National Honors Society.
If you aren’t performing, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
If I am not performing, I would be taking care of my precious and cutest dogs: Scarlett and Snowie, listening to showtunes, hanging out with friends, or watching Netflix such as patiently waiting for the next Stranger Things: Season Three.
If someone could play YOU in the movie of your life, who would it be?
Hmmm. If someone could play me in the movie of my life, it would have to be Eva Noblezada from the Broadway revival of Miss Saigon because of her Filipino descent (since I am Filipino) and she could sing my entire life through song.
What are you excited for audiences to see in “Into the Woods”?
I am super excited for audience to see in “Into the Woods”! It will be a real treat to watch this show because Tri-School have not done this show since 1998! I super excited for audiences to see the sets and productions since there will many sets moving from left to right especially when it is combined with the difficult music of Sondheim. I am way beyond mind-blown in the talent shown in this cast I am excited for everyone to see our hard work!
Anyone you would like to thank?
I would definitely like to thank for my family especially my mom and dad for letting me audition for this show and also coming back to Tri-School after three years. I would also like to thank my director, Mr. Marrone and vocal director, Mrs. Kasing for being so helpful teaching me new techniques for acting and singing and for supporting me through every step of the way. Also, a shoutout to the cast members for making me smile every time I walk in for rehearsal 🙂
