At the end of each calendar year, Servite Athletics presents four special awards to student-athletes who excel in the classroom (Scholar-Athlete of the Year), on the field of play (Athlete of the Year), in the community (Frank Ryan Service Award) and personally (Sherer Courage Award). Although these awards could not be given out in the same fashion as past years at the Hall of Fame Dinner and All Sports Banquet, our recipients are no less deserving of recognition. Second up, the Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The Servite scholar-athlete represents a young man who is not only a varsity letterman but also a major contributor to the success of their athletic program while maintaining the highest GPA of all our student-athletes. This year’s scholar-athlete not only maintained the highest GPA of all the senior athletes but also the entire class of 2020 finishing as the Servite Valedictorian. In addition, he earned Trinity League Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition.
He was a two-year varsity letterman in volleyball and club All-American. As a libero, he helped the 2019 team win a Trinity League Championship. In addition to athletics, he is on the Generalate for the Servite Priory program, the President of the Academic Decathlon team, President of CSF, Vice President of the Key Club and a member of NHS.
His academic schedule consisted of taking 12 honors placement classes and 13 advanced placement classes. He is graduating with a 4.91 GPA and will be attending Stanford in the fall. His future goals include pursuing a dual M.D./Ph.D program in neuroscience in hopes of becoming a neurosurgeon while researching cures to neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease.
