Senior Lucas Gimenez has committed to play soccer at Sacrament State! The Friars’ defender shared, “I chose to go to Sacramento State because I felt like it was the right place for me. I love to be outdoors, and Sacramento has plenty of places to explore and look at. On top of that, it is a good school, and they have a very competitive soccer team. I feel that I can come in and compete for minutes my freshman year and look forward to playing with my best friend, Justin Faison.”
A three-year varsity letterman for Servite Soccer, Gimenez earned 2nd Team All-Trinity League recognition last season after playing in 15 games for the Friars, tallying one goal and four assists. He also helped lead the team to the CIF-SS D1 Championship in 2020 as well as Trinity League Championships his sophomore and junior years.
Coach Eddie Soto shared, “Congratulations to Lucas and his family. I know how much this means to the Gimenez’s. I’m happy he has committed to Sacramento State and will be playing in the Big West Conference. The Servite Soccer family is proud and can’t wait to see him compete at the next level.”
Gimenez, who plans to study civil engineering or kinesiology at Sac State, also plays football for the Friars in addition to being involved in the Investment Club and African-American Heritage Club while serving as an Admissions Ambassador.
Gimenez is the third soccer player from the senior class to commit to compete at the collegiate level joining Faison in playing for the Hornets and Eddie Villeda who is headed to UC Santa Barbara.
In closing Gimenez added, “I want to give a big thank you to all of the coaches who have been by my side and helped me get here. Also, thank you to my friends and family for constantly pushing, supporting, and sacrificing for me. Love you guys!”
