Senior Kyle Bandy has committed to play football at The University of La Verne! The Friars’ running back shared, “I chose The University of La Verne because it is very similar to Servite. It has a very family-like community where everyone pushes each other to achieve their full potential.” He continued, “When the football coaches talked to me, it felt like they really wanted me to help them win some championships. I felt like I would be a great fit for the program and that is what really attracted me to La Verne.”
A three-year varsity letterman for Servite Football, Bandy recently earned 2nd Team All-Trinity League recognition following his senior campaign after tallying a team-high 452 yards on the ground with four rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. Throughout his high school career, he amassed 1,351 yards of total offense off 218 carries and 20 catches with 15 touchdowns in 26 games played for the Friars.
Coach Troy Thomas said, “We are very excited to see what God has in store for Kyle at The University of La Verne. He has been a mainstay in our offensive backfield for the past three seasons. We know he will represent his family and Servite in a positive way.”
Bandy, who plans to study Business/Finance at La Verne, also runs track for Servite.
Bandy is the seventh Friar from the Class of 2021 to make his college decision strengthening an already impressive football senior class.
In closing Bandy shared, “I would like to say thank you to the whole Servite coaching staff especially Coach Thomas, for coming back to Servite and helping push me to the best of my abilities. I will never forget all of the memories that the team has made, especially Saturday countdowns. I would also like to thank my family for transferring me to Servite because it has been the best decision of our lives. I’m thankful that I was able to continue my brother’s (Michael ’16/USD) legacy and I also thank my family for pushing me to be the best I can be. GO FRIARS!”
